Africa Sky Runners Take Conservation to the South African Skies!

Partner News

Follow 6 Bateleurs Missions from the Cape to KwaZulu-Natal and explore 6 biomes across South Africa.

Embark on a new awe-inspiring 14-day conservation air safari across South Africa with Africa Sky Runners, from the Cape to the northern regions of Kwa-Zulu Natal, traversing its six varied biomes and learning about the numerous conservation success stories along the way.

Visit the Cape Honey Bee initiative in the Eastern Cape and pangolin, vultures, lions and cheetahs’ protection initiatives in KZN. Trace the footsteps of the dedicated volunteer pilots of The Bateleurs who have championed environmental and conservation missions throughout the country through their aerial support. Africa Sky Runners pilot and guide Mike White, also a Bateleurs pilot, will share the stories of the various missions at each stop.

Africa Sky Runners offer exceptional private air safari experiences that beckon one to embark on an adventure of a lifetime. Co-founders and seasoned pilots, Mike White and Nicola Quagliere, are also FGASA-qualified in field guiding and conservation, bringing their passion and knowledge to conservation efforts. In addition to Mike being a volunteer pilot for The Bateleurs, a portion of profits of all Air Safaris are donated to The Bateleurs for ongoing aerial support in partner conservation efforts.

The Bateleurs are volunteer pilots flying for the environment. Africa Sky Runners supports The Bateleurs in their mission to provide aerial support for the environment in South Africa and other parts of Africa, through annual donations. Founded in 1998, The Bateleurs is a Non Profit Company (NPC), with over 200 volunteer pilots and aircraft. It provides its beneficiaries and the public with an aerial perspective of the environment and has coordinated several thousand flights, and diverse missions, throughout South Africa and Africa, in support of environmental issues.

“Our flying safaris take us to some of the most beautiful, remote and pristine wildlife reserves in Africa.  As with many wild places, these areas are often under pressure and require the dedicated efforts of conservationists to protect and preserve their natural beauty and wildlife. We, along with our guests, are fortunate to witness the natural beauty of these places and feel compelled to contribute to their protection,” says Mike White, co-founder of Africa Sky Runners and Bateleur pilot.

The 14-day itinerary is a limited to four guests at a time, stretching from the Western and Eastern Cape to remote regions in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
